Die Augenlinse besteht aus Proteinen und Wasser, die im Laufe des Lebens h\u00e4rter und weniger elastisch werden. Die Zellen in der Linse erneuern sich nicht, das bedeutet, dass die Linse mit dem Alter zunehmend starrer wird .Dies f\u00fchrt dazu, dass das Auge Schwierigkeiten hat, Objekte in der N\u00e4he scharf zu stellen (Verlust der Akkommodation). Mit einer Monovision (ein Auge f\u00fcr die Ferne \u2013 eines mehr f\u00fcr die N\u00e4he) kann der Sehsch\u00e4rfebereich jedoch oft zufriedenstellend erweitert werden.<\/p>\n<p>Insgesamt bieten alle Linsentypen individuelle Vorteile und sollten basierend auf den Lebensgewohnheiten und Bed\u00fcrfnissen des Patienten gew\u00e4hlt werden.
