The injection of special anti-VEGF (growth factors = IVOM, intravitreal surgical drug administration) into the vitreous cavity is a treatment for wet macular degeneration (AMD), retinal edema in diabetes or after a vascular occlusion. The drugs are directly injected into the eye after diagnosis. These treatments have often to be carried out several times at monthly intervals.
